Work is strange...

Working in a large newspaper can often afford you some interesting experiences. I've met some famous people and politicians, but by far the nicest was Will Smith. He came in today and even some of our more seasoned reporters were pretty pumped to meet him. He went out of his way to shake hands and really seemed like anything but a celebrity. For that, Will Smith, I will fork out the outrageous sum of cash to see your next movie in the theater.

That goon in the background frightened the sauce out of everyone.

The legend...

This is Brett. When he isn't fighting crime, he's pasting random pieces of material, paper and what I believe to be human entrails to canvas. Here's a scoop ladies-- he's single. See his brilliance below.

Another cool collage by Brett Hobbs

Who is this mysterious man? Who is this secret agent of collage -- this enigma wrapped in a corn tortilla, dipped in a labyrinth of I-don't-know-what? Brett and I met as teenagers and played music together and have been buddies ever since. And now that we're in our 40s, we want to be artists too. Dare we dream for so much in one lifetime?

Messing around with 3D

Here's an illustration I did for work -- a story about how with the current economy, there are a larger percentage of shoppers who will put their gifts on layaway this year. Modeled and rendered in Cinema 4D, then sexied-up in photoshop.
