Yet another failed Beatle

As the only Mormon in the group, Mickey’s charm and good looks made him a favorite with the other Beatles. His good-natured toe tapping and whistling were legendary in the 60s music scene, adding a real depth to the group’s early sound.  After his breakout whistling performance in the opening credits of the Andy Griffith show, his star burned “brighter than a comet” so said, Brian Epstein, who was thought to be deeply in love with the charismatic Mickey. Sadly, the young missionary couldn’t embrace the famous haircut and found that as an LDS he also was unable to tolerate the massive quantities of LSD.
